Housing Building in Lisbon

DESCRIPTION
This new intervention consists in creating a new building that fits within the existing urban environment and preserves the identity of the location. The quest is a complete integration into the urban area, while maintaining the modulation of window openings, existing patios below the reference level over the main façade length, and the materials that form the overall image of the surrounding area.
The proposal predicts the occupation to be the entire width of the plot, through a rectangular polygon with a recoiled flat roof. Since the access is made only by the Street Aliança Operária, is with this road that the proposed building relates more directly, through a bridge/walkway, given the existence of patios below the reference level.
The distribution of the program and apartments in the established building area is done by the typical left/right system with the vertical access on the center, due to the size of the affected area. In terms of the interior of the flats, they are equal and symmetrical in all floors. Taking for granted the solar orientation of north/south elevations of both facades of the building, the distribution of the interior spaces becomes clear: the living room and kitchen work as a good social open space facing South, the exterior with more movement and life, and the bedroom, space of resting and more restricted area facing North, connected to the proposed green space in the backyard. In the center of the flat, the bathroom divides and forms the bridge between the more social and private spaces.
In an intention to extend the interior spaces to the facades, we propose a small set of overhanging elements that materialize in balconies with light aesthetic, with coating that translates the same sensation: constituted of white perforated sheets of steel, the same material of all shading shutters, the sunlight passes through the holes of the material, providing a game of sun and shadow contrasts inside the apartments.
